Dehumidification in cleanrooms and drying rooms

The objective: avoiding electrostatic charge at all costs

Adsorption dryers TTR 800 to 13500 for large drying rooms

In the production of electronic equipment and semiconductors humidity can lead to electrostatic charge. For this reason, sensitive processing steps are being performed in cleanrooms and drying rooms. The mobile adsorption dryers of the TTR series are ideal for these high requirements during dehumidification.

At present the electronics and semiconductor industry is the sector putting the highest requirements on dehumidification in cleanrooms. For instance, a manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries asks for a relative humidity of only 2 per cent. A rather extreme value when compared with the average 10 per cent in the pharmaceutical industry or the 35 per cent in the automotive industry. To achieve such a high dehumidification perfectly adjustable, constantly working dehumidifiers are required.

Duoventic: individual vernier adjustment of humidity level and volumetric flow

The stationary and mobile adsorption dryers of the TTR series – by use of one of the three variations of the TTR functional principle – ensure a high dehumidification performance while simultaneously keeping the energy consumption low. Both mobile adsorption dryers marked with "D" for the Duoventic air volume regulation, TTR 400 D and TTR 500 D, provide maximum flexibility when adjusting the required amount of dry air. Owing to the innovative Duoventic air volume regulation both fans of the separate air circuits can be controlled independently via an infinitely variable electronic regulation. This enables an individual vernier adjustment of humidity level and volumetric flow of the required dry air and thus a precisely controlled percentage of relative humidity. TTR 400 D and TTR 500 D were designed for use in small cleanrooms or drying chambers.

Large drying rooms and cleanrooms can ideally be dehumidified by use of the stationary adsorption dryers serially numbered from TTR 800 to TTR 13500. They come equipped with the Monoventic control for the regulation of dry air. Another option is the FlowMatic control by use of which the volumetric flow of the dry air is kept constantly.

Reliable measurement technology and data loggers "made in Germany"

The electronics and semiconductor industry has to depend on extremely reliable measurement technology to keep a single-figure relative humidity value constant. Trotec, for instance, supplies the thermohygrometers T210 and T260. Furthermore, the data loggers of the MultiMeasure Professional series, DL200H or DL200X, manufactured in Germany, provide manifold opportunities for tamper-proof long-term measurements during dehumidification.

Consultation and mobile testing appliances: make use of our industrial services

For the electronics and semiconductor industry the Trotec Group not only supplies dehumidifiers and measurement technology, but also technically and economically ideal solutions for climate conditioning. Our specialists in the industrial services team calculate all climate parameters and recommend the suitable devices. Moreover, we have mobile units on offer which can be used to test the planned dehumidification of your drying room in advance. This way, you can be sure that the proposed solution actually works.

Upon request, we also produce customized desiccant dehumidifiers as special models

Upon request, we will readily produce tailor-made desiccant dehumidifiers as special models “made in Germany” perfectly geared to your needs, e.g.:

  • TTR industrial desiccant dehumidifiers with hygienic design
  • TTR industrial desiccant dehumidifiers for PWIS-free dry air
  • TTR industrial desiccant dehumidifiers with extremely low dew point

Makes use of the possibility of having special models with tailored components for your individual needs planned, designed and manufactured in close consultation with our specialists.

  • Dehumidifying & air cleaning in storages

The Trotec Group provides different dehumidification solutions – from the condensation dehumidifiers of the DH series to the adsorption dryers of the TTR series. Both are available as mobile and stationary versions. We offer the right dehumidification technology for every depot or dispatch warehouse. Innovative measuring devices and data loggers complete the dehumidification concept for storage...

  • Dehumidification in fertilizer storage facilities

The production of hygroscopic materials in the chemical industry requires intuition and sure instincts. After all, the substances love water and readily absorb the moisture contained in the ambient air. And this can have disastrous economic consequences. As it binds water, the material starts sticking together and clumping, and may become unusable in the worst case. One example are fertilizers. If...

  • Dehumidification in wind turbine component depots

In the construction phase of a wind turbine, the plant’s components are sometimes stored for months in very large depots such as halls or temporary storage tents prior to assembly. To prevent damage caused by corrosion or frost during storage, a sophisticated system for humidity regulation is necessary.

  • Dehumidification of appliance rooms

Proper protective equipment and perfectly functioning devices are indispensable for operations by the fire brigade and the THW. Protective suits, hoses and tubes must be absolutely leakproof. Tools such as spreader forceps and bolt cutters have to be in an immaculate condition, just like technical devices such as high-performance fans, cutting torches and headlights. In order to store the whole...

  • Dehumidification in ships' holds

There is only one remedy for mould, microbial contamination and corrosion on cargo and ship: to supply constantly dry air with a humidity suitable for the cargo into the ship’s hold. To achieve reliable results, the dehumidification system must have been planned professionally.

  • Dehumidification circuit board storages

When storing printed circuit boards humidity can lead to electrostatic charge and patina formation or corrosion. Particularly suited for dehumidifying the PCB storage space are the mobile adsorption dryers of the TTR series – just as well as for other operating sectors in the electronics and semiconductor production.

  • Dehumidification dispatch & transport

In the silo as well as during transport hygroscopic bulk material is endangered by humidity – this holds true for both the chemical and the pharmaceutical industry. Humidity continues to be a problem after production, because the products are mostly packed into damageable cardboard boxes with paper inserts. Therefore, dehumidification also plays a key role for storage, dispatch and transport.

  • Dry air storage

The requirements in dry air storage are very much alike in many industries: Bacterial growth on foodstuffs, powders going lumpy, corrosion on metal parts – all can be prevented, when the relative humidity is constantly kept below 50 %. A value of 70 % RH suffices as mould protection. The dehumidifiers of the TTR series along with the matching data loggers represent dehumidification systems which...

  • Dehumidification in timber yards

In the past, when storing wood it had been rather a challenge to keep the moisture of furniture wood below the required 9 per cent, for example: If no dehumidifiers are used, seasonal temperature differences and fluctuations in air humidity cause the wood moisture to rise. This considerably affects timber quality and results in problems during processing and even in reject.

  • Dehumidification in wine cellars

The different temperatures at which the wines are fermented are usually set by the winemaker via the thermostats integrated in the tanks. But the use of dehumidifiers is still indispensable. If the humidity level is low, particularly red wines can develop in the best way. Furthermore, a drying device is able to fight condensation efficiently. Trotec has a series of high-performance drying devices...

  • Dehumidifying when storing raw tobacco

The refinement of raw tobacco is considered a fine art. Far from the major tobacco industry smaller factories produce special mixtures with highly diverse flavours. But here, too, the firms usually have to purchase the raw tobacco, coming from many parts of the world, by container load. And since in most cases the product is not processed all at once, the tobacco leaves have to be stored away...
