Humidity regulation for the lithium ion battery production

High dehumidification performance at low dew points – a guarantor of more quality

Extremely low humidity values, or in other words, an extremely low dew point are indispensable for the production of innovative and environmentally friendly batteries, so as to achieve an optimum product yield and product quality and furthermore ensure a long service life taking all required safety precautions into consideration.

Field-tested dehumidification solutions from Trotec protect battery drying rooms and persons working in such rooms against the hazards of production-related risks and secure consistently high production requirements for an optimum battery quality.

As a market-leading company in the production of industrial systems for air conditioning, Trotec supports research companies and battery manufacturers in the reliable control of production conditions in drying rooms. United with the goal of improving the product quality of the energy accumulators and minimising operating costs.

A broad range with a total of eleven flexibly and modularly configurable industrial desiccant dehumidifiers of the TTR series guarantees maximum dehumidification performances with a maximum economic efficiency.

Industrial desiccant dehumidifiers of the TTR series: indispensable in the field of battery production

All around the world, supported by mobile and stationary Trotec drying technology, companies produce lithium-based energy accumulators that convince by durability and a high energy density, but always ensuring maximum product safety.

The industrial production of top-quality batteries requires reliable humidity regulation and high dehumidification performance at very low dew points. Only a production climate with a relative humidity of less than 1 % ensures the required degree of safety in the production process, whereas only slight deviations already affect the quality, performance and durability of lithium ion batteries.

Maximum dry air performances even with a low dew point

With the mobile and stationary desiccant dehumidifiers of the TTR series, such demanding production conditions in drying rooms can be implemented in an especially economical fashion. The application possibilities of the altogether eleven industrial desiccant dehumidifiers with a dry air performance of up to 13,300m³/h are as versatile as their comprehensive standard equipment and the numerous optional equipment options, allowing for a virtually custom-tailored adaptation of these devices to meet any industrial application.

TTR Trisorp Dual principle with a separate airflow of process and regeneration air

All desiccant dehumidifiers of the TTR series are provided with two separate air flow ducts of process and regeneration air and a purging sector for internal heat recovery. The process air to be dehumidified is sucked in by a fan and flows through the dehumidification sector of the continuously rotating desiccant wheel. There the contained moisture is withdrawn by the sorbent and in the further course the dried air flows towards the air outlet.

The regeneration air is also sucked in by a separate fan and guided through the purging sector. Seeing as the desiccant wheel heats up due to the released desiccation heat and the regeneration heat, the purging sector serves to recover heat therefore energy, and to cool the desiccant wheel. This leads to a substantially reduced energy input and an improved dehumidification performance alike – especially at lower dew points.

Whilst flowing through the heater battery, the regeneration air is heated up substantially, in the course of this the relative humidity is extremely reduced. As a result, the air passing through the regeneration sector again absorbs the moisture retained by the silica gel and can then be discharged to the outside as humid regeneration air through the humid air outlet.

Due to the internal heat recovery and high level of resilience and performance of their special sorption rotors, the desiccant dehumidifiers of the TTR series are among the most economical devices of their kind!

Make use of Trotec's best practice industrial services

Since every industrial undertaking has characteristic process flows, installations and facilities, every air treatment solution demands case-specific device configurations. All in all, the combined effects of air currents, humidity conditions and temperature fluctuations are often hard to calculate on a purely theoretical basis, e.g. in airlock areas or on conveying paths. The consequence: Unnecessary additional costs due to an overestimated demand or – even worse – solutions not working sufficiently in real life.

Further application examples for dehumidification

  • Environmental simulation climate chamber

In climatic chambers and wind tunnels three factors need to be simulated at the best possible rate: air temperature, wind strength and humidity. For the latter, the automotive industry needs dehumidifiers, which also perform well at dew points below 0°C, as well as high-performance desiccant dehumidifiers.

  • Dehumidifying & air cleaning for coating

There are three parameters to be controlled when coating car components: room temperature, humidity and the dust content in the air. In addition to dehumidifiers and heating devices we also provide sustainable air cleaners with special volumetric flow regulation for this production stage in the automotive industry.

  • Dehumidification in tents

When preparing a tent or another type of temporary accommodation, good room conditions are essential. This applies particularly to makeshift dwellings accommodating large numbers of people. This can be tent cities or container villages for asylum seekers, tent camps for youth groups, tents used as a place to sleep at large events, and also containers serving as a temporary home for seasonal...

  • Drying hygroscopic bulk material

Varying and too high humidity values can ruin the pourability of powders and granules – and thus entail high consequential costs. In order for hygroscopic bulk material not to go lumpy nor to block hauling paths, the entire air in the chemical and pharmaceutical production must be pre-dried. Using adsorption dryers of the TTR series that's no problem.

  • Drying after silo cleaning

After the cleaning of storage containers and silos you have to count on them to be fully dried for new bulk material to be protected against moisture from the beginning. And since drying can be effected in a quick and economical manner, we advise decision makers from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry to consider our high-performance dryers of the TTR series.

  • Drying pellets

Who turns his back on proper air conditioning for production and storage facilities risks serious damage to the product. This is also true for the manufacturing of pellets. The biofuel is particularly susceptible to excessive humidity values. For the untreated raw wood withdraws the humidity from the air and absorbs it. With devastating consequences for both the customer and the manufacturer:...

  • Dehumidification in hotels

A suitable room climate is a prerequisite for the well-being of hotel guests. If the air in the room is too warm or humid, it appears to be stale and muggy. Often damages appear at the building structure and interior within a short period of time. Wallpaper will be dotted with mould stains, curtains and clothes as well as linen become damp and musty and – if it comes to the worst – mildew runs...
