The electronic pressure switch TDP DS from Trotec is the reliable solution for the automatic control of deep well pumps, garden pumps, centrifugal pumps or water pumps without an individual mains plug – perfect, for instance, for watering the garden, implementing the domestic water supply, water delivery, draining quantities of water from a pool, or for carrying out cleaning work.
Provides for constant water pressure in the pipe system
The compact Trotec pressure switch is installed between your pump and the consumer connected (e.g. tap or garden hose) and the water delivery takes place automatically without manual switch-on and switch-off of the pump. In the pipe system connected the pressure switch ensures a constant water pressure for garden irrigation or domestic water supply. The pressure switch constantly monitors the pressure in the pipe. When the pressure drops, the device switches on automatically and re-establishes the pressure. When the pipe pressure is reached again, the pump control switches off automatically. In this way, the pump is preserved and its lifetime is extended. Both the water inlet and the water outlet are provided with an external thread with a diameter of 1". This makes the pressure switch compatible with common connections of pumps, hoses or tubes.
The solutions for pumps without a mains plug
The pressure switch is equipped with an open cable end and a mains plug. The power supply of the pump connected is implemented via the 1,100 W pressure switch TDP DS. For this purpose, the mains cable of your pump or of the external control box must be connected to the open cable end of the pressure switch. Note: Please note that the connection of the power supply should only be carried out by trained specialist staff. When the pressure switch has been connected to the pump via mains cable and integrated into the pipe system, you just have to connect the mains plug of the pressure switch to your domestic socket. Your water pump is now supplied with power via the pressure switch and automatically regulated by the TDP DS without requiring any maintenance.
The TDP DS turns your water pump into a domestic water supply system
The pressure switch TDP DS is not only the ideal solution for the use in the garden –you can also use this automatic pump control to upgrade your already existing water pump to a domestic water supply system which will then make it possible for you to use service water, for example for flushing the toilet, operating the washing machine or for working the shower. The electronic pressure switch provides for a constant water pressure in the pipe and protects the pump connected against damage from running dry, water hammers or overheating. The convenient and compact Trotec pressure switch is designed for a maximum working pressure of 10 bar. The current water pressure in bar can be read off from its integrated pressure gauge. The robust plastic housing is protected against splash water from all sides as per IP54 type of protection. The TDP DS matches almost all common pump systems without an individual pressure switch and without mains plug. Furthermore it is the ideal supplement for the Trotec's deep well pumps of the TDP series and the Trotec garden pumps of the TGP series.
This is how the automatic pump control via pressure switch works
Pressure switches are also referred to as automatic pump control, automatic pressure unit, pressure monitor, pressure control, flow monitor or flow control. Their operating principle, however, is always the same: an electronic pressure switch monitors both the water pressure and the flow rate in the water line. If you draw water at the consumer, the pressure in the pipe drops and a flow is recorded by the pressure switch. This automatically switches on the pump connected. When you turn the consumer off again, the water pressure in the pipe increases and the flow ceases. The pump is switched off again automatically by the pressure switch. This preserves the pump and its lifetime is extended. The pressure switch is designed for a working pressure in the pumping system of up to 10 bar and for clear fresh water with a temperature of up to 60°C.
With a dry-run protection to ensure a longer lifetime of the pump
For the case that there's not enough water in your well, in the pond, the cistern or the reservoir, the integrated dry-run protection of the pressure switch is activated and automatically stops the pump. When the pressure in the pipe drops too heavily and the water flow is less than 2 litres per minute, the TDP DS recognizes the risk of running dry and reliably switches off your pump. Continuing operation that is unnecessary is actively prevented by the pressure switch and the pump is protected against damage by running dry and overheating. This mechanism furthermore makes it possible for the pressure switch to detect whether there is a leak in the water line. After an LED error message by running dry, the pump can be easily restarted by pressing the Reset button on the operating panel of the pressure switch.
Including backflow stop
The electronic pressure switch TDP DS comes equipped with a non-return valve that prevents the backflow of water and protects the pump from pressure shocks and pressure surge effects. The integrated backflow stop permits the water delivered to only flow into one direction in the pipe system connected.
By the pressure of the flowing water the closing element of the swing check valve is opened. When the pump is switched off and the water pressure drops, the remaining water in the hose presses the shut-off element into the opposite direction, closes the outlet and in this way prevents the water to keep flowing.

TDP deep well pumps from Trotec

Here the pressure switch is switched downstream of the pump via hose connection and the open end of the pressure switch mains cable is connected to the deep well pump control box.
TGP garden pumps from Trotec
The TDP DS pressure switch also works with our garden pumps TGP 1000 E, TGP 1000 ES or TGP 1005 E. With these models you can for example easily screw the pressure switch onto the water outlet in the pump head. To provide for the power supply, the open end of the pressure switch mains cable must be-connected to the pump. As an especially practical plug & play solution we recommend using the pressure switch TDP DSP with its convenient mains power socket as an alternative for our garden pumps.
Pumps with a power of up to 2,300 watts can be provided with a single-phase connection to the pressure switch TDP DS. With a three-phase connection, a pump capacity of up to 4,000 watts can be achieved.
