Electronic pressure switch TDP DSP

Ideal for houses & gardens: The comfortable pump control with an integrated socket. And dry-run protection

Automatic pump control with plug & play:
Just connect it and you're done!

Whether you need a solution for garden irrigation, domestic water supply, water pumping, draining quantities of water from a swimming pool or for doing cleaning work – the electronic pressure switch TDP DSP from Trotec is the convenient and reliable plug &-play solution for the automatic control of garden pumps, deep well pumps, centrifugal pumps or water pumps.

For constant water pressure in the pipe system

Simply install the compact pressure switch between the pump and the consumer connected (e.g. tap or garden hose) and the water delivery takes place automatically without manual switch-on and switch-off of the pump. In the pipe system connected, the pressure switch ensures a constant water pressure for garden irrigation or the domestic water supply. The line pressure is constantly monitored by the pressure switch. When the pressure drops, the devices switches on automatically and re-establishes the pressure again. When the pipe pressure is reached again, the pump control switches off automatically. In this way, the pump is preserved and its lifetime is extended. The two inlet and outlet nozzles at the pressure switch are equipped with 1“ external threads and therefore perfectly match conventional pump, hose or pipe connections.

Plug & play – power supply of the pump via the power socket in the pressure switch

The power supply of the pump is also implemented via the 1,100 W pressure switch TDP DSP. Just connect the mains plug of your pump to the 230 V power socket integrated into the pressure switch. If you connect the mains plug of the pressure switch to your domestic socket now, the water pump is automatically supplied with power and regulated in a maintenance-free fashion every time the consumer is opened and closed. The electrical connection of the pump to the pressure switch does not require the help of specialist staff.

With the TDP DSP you turn your water pump into a domestic water supply system

The TDP DSP is not only the ideal solution for the use in the garden –you can also use this automatic pump control to upgrade your already existing water pump to a domestic water supply system which will then make it possible for you to use service water, for example for flushing the toilet, operating the washing machine or for working the shower. The pressure switch TDP DSP provides for a constant water pressure in the pipe and protects the pump connected against damage by running dry, back-pressure effects and overheating. The convenient pressure switch is designed for a maximum working pressure of 10 bar. The current water pressure in bar can be read off at the integrated pressure gauge. The robust plastic housing is protected against splash water and dust from all sides as per IP65 type of protection. The TDP DSP almost matches all conventional pump systems without an individual pressure switch and is furthermore the ideal supplement for the Trotec garden pumps of the TGP series and the Trotec's deep well pumps of the TDP series.

Functional principle of the pressure switch

Pressure switches are also referred to as automatic pump control, pressure monitor, pressure controller, automatic pressure unit, pressure control, flow monitor or flow control. The functional principle is always the same, though. The pipe pressure and flow rate in the system connected is monitored by the pressure switch. If water is drawn at the consumer, the pressure in the pipe drops and a flow is recorded. This causes the pressure switch to automatically switch on the pump connected.

If the consumer is turned off, the water pressure in the pipe increases again and the flow stops. This causes the pressure switch to automatically switch off the pump. In this way, the pump is preserved and its lifetime is extended. The pressure switch is designed for a water temperature of up to 60°C and the working pressure in the delivery system may be up to 10 bar.

Reliable dry-run protection to ensure a longer lifetime of the pump

If there isn't enough water in the well, pond or reservoir, the integrated dry-run protection is activated and the pressure switch stops the pump automatically. When the pressure in the pipe drops too heavily and the water flow is less than 1.2 litres per minute, the pressure switch recognizes the risk of running dry and automatically switches off the pump. In this way, the pump is protected against damage by running dry and unnecessary continuation as well as possible overheating of the pump is avoided. This mechanism furthermore makes it possible for the pressure switch to detect whether there is a leak in the water line. After an LED error message due to running dry, the pump can be easily restarted by pressing the Reset button on the operating panel of the pressure switch.

Including a backflow stop

The electronic pressure switch TDP DSP is equipped with a non-return valve. This prevents the backflow of water and offers protection against pressure shocks and water hammers. The backflow stop mechanism permits the water delivered to only flow into one direction in the pipe system.

By the pressure of the flowing water, a shut-off element is opened. When the pump is switched off and the water pressure drops, the remaining water in the hose presses the closing element into the opposite direction, closes the outlet and in this way prevents the water to keep flowing.

Diverse application possibilities

The electronic pressure switch TDP DSP is especially suitable for the following applications:

  • garden irrigation with a hose, sprinkler, micro-drip system
  • Allows for refitting your pump to a domestic water supply system for providing service water to flush toilets and work washing machines or showers
  • Water delivery from a well, a pond, a stream, a reservoir or a cistern
  • Draining swimming pools, garden ponds or rain barrels
  • Cleaning work using a high-pressure cleaner or washing the car

Whatever your task may be – with the electronic pressure switch TDP DSP from Trotec you benefit from reliable and convenient water pressure regulation without having to switch your pump on and off manually every time.

Universally applicable with common water pumps and the following Trotec models:

The electronic pressure switch TDP DSP from Trotec can be used without problems for a variety of commercially available water pumps and pumping systems – either directly at the pump head or via hose connection.

TGP garden pumps from Trotec
If you also wish to rely on Trotec brand quality where your garden pump is concerned, we recommend using our three models TGP 1000 E, TGP 1000 ES or TGP 1005 E. With these Trotec garden pumps you can for example just screw the pressure switch onto the water outlet nozzle in the pump head and connect the pump power cable directly to the socket in the pressure switch.

TDP deep well pumps from Trotec
The pressure switch TDP DSP also works with our two deep well pumps TDP 5500 E and TDP 7500 E. Here the pressure switch is switched downstream of the pump via hose connection, and the mains plug from the deep well pump control box is connected to the pressure switch power socket. As an alternative, we also recommend using the pressure switch TDP DS for our deep well pumps.

Pumps with a power of up to 2,300 watts can be provided with a single-phase connection to the pressure switch. With a three-phase connection, a pump capacity of up to 4,000 watts can be achieved.
