Sign-up / personal data
You must provide a valid e-mail address. After the successful transmission of the data Trotec will send you a confirmation e-mail containing a link. Please follow this link. Only then will your account be activated. This procedure is required to make sure it is you who opened the account.
Select a password containing at least 5 characters and difficult to guess. Do not disclose your password to anyone. The password will be required when you want to link another device to your account or log on to the portal.
Activate the checkbox next to "I accept the data protection regulations" to agree to the measures outlined here.
Trotec will store your e-mail address, but not use it without compelling reasons, e.g. an unavailability due to maintenance or to contact you in case of a malfunction. On no account will Trotec pass on your e-mail address or share it with third parties.
The password is stored in encrypted form. It is impossible to derive the original password from this encrypted version (not even for Trotec employees).
The date of your initial registration (and thus of your acceptance of the data protection regulations) will be saved along with the above data. You can revoke your consent at any time. Please note that certain functions will no longer be available once the personal data has been deleted.
Data traffic / device data
Upon first contact between app and cloud server, the server allocates a random, unique ID used to identify the app instance. This ID is selected at random and contains no information permitting others to draw conclusions regarding your personal details, user behaviour, location or measurement data. This ID is only ever transmitted in the encrypted form.
Upon start-up, the app requests the time from the server to make the above-mentioned encryption as efficient as possible.
The language selection made in the app – associated with the app instance – will be saved on the server so as to display any messages and notifications in this preferred language.
The device description stored on the device itself (e.g. "Apple iPad4,4" or "Samsung Galaxy S7") will be extracted and transmitted to the server. This serves for an easier orientation should you use two or more devices.
The app will not read any further data. It does not use cookies, nor will it automatically establish a connection to the internet other than for the purposes described above.
Device permissions
The app's main object is the connection to Bluetooth sensors. One time only you have to permit the app to access the Bluetooth function of the device. You can also use the app without this permission, however, it will not function as intended. The app will not communicate with any other than the intended Bluetooth sensors.
With activated location detection, the app will give you the opportunity to save the measurement data along with location information at the end of a measurement recording. This requires a one-time permission. This is not an automatic process and the app will not access your geographic data at any other time. No other functions will be affected if you deny the access.
In case of some sensors the measurement data can be linked to a photo. A one-time permission will be required to use the camera and/or access the gallery or image folder. Photos will only be used as a result of an explicit user action (tapping on "Measurement with background image" or "Matrix measurement with background image"). Images are saved in the app only and thus protected from external access. The app will never automatically create or access images. No other functions will be affected if you deny the access.
Recorded measurements can be linked to personal data imported from the address book. This requires a one-time permission. The app will never automatically access the address book. No other functions will be affected if you deny the access.
If the option "Automatically upload / synchronize with enabled WLAN" is selected, the app will check WLAN availability.
Measurement data / upload / sharing
The Bluetooth sensors compatible with the app will only transfer measurement data. All of the transferred measurement data will be displayed. Emergent data – which will also be displayed completely – can be calculated from some individual data combinations. Only the displayed data will be saved – and only in consequence of an explicit user action (by selecting "Save"). As a result of an explicit user action further information in form of additional text or image data can be added to measurements. Measurements are saved in the app only and thus protected from external access.
Having opened a user account, measurements can also be uploaded and stored on a Trotec server. These measurements will only be available to the user who created them. This option can be used for backup, for the data exchange between several device of the same user or to utilize the data in the MultiMeasureCloud. Uploads either have to be initiated individually or they are carried out automatically by selecting "Automatically upload / synchronize with enabled WLAN".
From a technical perspective, Trotec is capable of viewing your measurement data. Trotec will only make use of this possibility if rendered necessary for technical reasons, e.g. for maintenance work. On no account will Trotec pass on your measurement data or share it with third parties.
You can share one of your own measurements with other users by presenting them with a generated QR code. Measurement data received in this way cannot be passed on. Furthermore, Trotec asks the measurement data recipients to respect the owner's property rights.
Summary
Data collection and storage are limited to the amount necessary for a smooth operation. Whenever technically possible, permissions can be given or denied individually. Trotec will only view accessible data in case of compelling technical reasons and never share them with third parties.
