Ceramic fan heater TDS 20 P
Robust electric heating device with metal construction and radial fan for quick, effective heat generation
While leaving a cool impression, the solidly built ceramic fan heater in its grey metal housing is also ardently loved by professional users, who are positively thrilled by this well-designed heating solution. After all, the TDS 20 P heats up cold rooms to the desired temperature in next to no time thanks to advanced PTC ceramic heating technology and a powerful radial fan, and does not bother about rough surroundings or rugged handling during transport.
Unique radial fan construction
Whereas other heater fans of this class are fitted with customary axial fans, the TDS 20 P comes equipped with a powerful radial fan instead.
Radial fans convey the air similarly to a paddle wheel, which causes a higher air flow rate and higher pressure compared to axial constructions. This is why rooms can be fully heated faster using the TDS 20 P. At the same time, the radial fan runs considerably more quietly than a comparable axial fan.
Thus, you benefit in two ways: from an improved heat distribution and lower fan noises.
For an individual adjustment of the desired heat output, the TDS 20 P is additionally equipped with an infinitely variable thermostat and two heating levels that can be set separately for a heat output of up to 3 kW.
Due to its thermally insulated carrying handle the TDS 20 P can be easily transported to the place of installation, put into service in thermostat-controlled automatic mode, and fine-adjusted via two selectable heating levels with heating capacities of 2 or 3 kW, while the cold air level additionally allows for ventilation without heating.
PTC heating element impresses even tough calculators
You won’t be able to find red hot heating wires in the TDS 20 P, for this electric heating device uses a durable ceramic heating element instead to heat the air.
Advantages of PTC as compared to heating wires: longer lifetime, less sensitive technology, shorter heat-up times – and no burning of dust during heating, which additionally makes this ceramic heater suitable for allergy sufferers.
Just like all electric heaters, the TDS 20 P neither produces condensate nor consumes oxygen during operation. Hence, this ceramic fan heater is ideally suited for heating closed, non-ventilated rooms.
Due to its robust metal construction, the TDS 20 P cannot only be used for heating basements, storage facilities or cold indoor construction sites, but also for application in construction trailers or roofed market stalls without any problems.
Safe operation is ensured by an integrated overheating protection and an additional tilt protection that automatically deactivates the device in case it is unintentionally tipped over.
Faster air heating – more uniform room temperature
Trotec’s fan heaters with PTC ceramic heating elements (A) not only differ from conventional heating coil technology (B) in terms of their shorter heat-up times. There are also process-related differences in the response behaviour of the heating elements.
Although both devices maintain the preselected target temperature (orange) by means of thermostat control using a two-position controller, the respective temperature adaptation takes place significantly more slowly and with greater deviations from the desired target temperature in case of devices with heating coils. The reason for this is the different conductivity behaviour of the heating elements:
if current flows through the heating coils, the coils will always have the same temperature once they have heated up. For controlling the desired room temperature, the power supply is first interrupted, making the coil cool down, and then re-activated by the thermostat so that the coil heats up again completely before it is switched off again when the set target temperature is reached.
This “on/off process” causes significantly greater temperature fluctuations than with ceramic heating elements, for the material of the latter provides an integrated temperature self-regulation. The hotter PTCs get, the higher is their electrical resistivity, resulting in less current flowing through the heating element and in a reduced heating capacity, and thus in significantly lower temperature fluctuations and less switch-on and switch-off processes in thermostat-controlled operation.
For this reason, ceramic fan heaters are able to create more even room temperatures for temperature-sensitive manufacturing processes as well as a pleasant working climate.
