Mobile zone monitoring of drinking water systems
Versatile system of wireless data loggers for sound level measuring and mobile data receiver
Leakages in drinking water systems not only jeopardize the supply quality – over time even small leaks result in high loss ratios and significant economic damages.
The mobile radio monitoring system of the Trotec MultiMeasure Professional series enables effective and reliable acoustic zone measurements in drinking water systems to identify potential leakage points.
With magnetic base and optional fastening elements the wireless data loggers can be used for sound level measuring at arbitrary spots in the piping network.
Furthermore, a hydrophone version is available for direct application in water – ideal for plastic pipes or great nominal diameters.
The wireless data loggers capture, analyse and document sound levels in the low-consumption night-time hours and transmit all measurement data via radio up to twelve times per minute.
By use of the mobile receiver LD5LR all measurement data can be received and stored when passing. Leak status and other measured values are immediately indicated on the LD5LR's display upon data reception.
Thanks to the direct visual indication of the leak status, a measurement engineer using correlator or sound locator can immediately detect a leak on site, if required.
After returning to the office, the logger data can be transferred via the USB interface from the LD5LR receiver to a PC for analysis and documentation purposes.
The database-supported user software LogControl included in the scope of delivery is GIS-compatible and offers manifold graphically supported evaluation and administration functions:
This e.g. enables the cartographic realization of individual piping diagrams, the allocation of individual logger locations and measurement series or the creation of own regions for the distinction of different pressure zones.
The application of mobile wireless data loggers considerably reduces the time needed for leak detection, because the regular acquisition and analysis of measured values enables the recognition of leaks at an early stage.
For instance, if the entire network was provided with wireless data loggers, a single employee can check approx. 220 to 350 km of supply lines each day.
In the passing measuring vehicle the loggers' results can be received via radio using the mobile receiver LD5LR and indicated both visually and acoustically with the corresponding location.
The receiver assists the employee already during data reception by calculating and displaying an evaluation of the leak status based on the measured values.
