FOOD IR THERMOMETER BP5F
Combined surface and core temperature measurements in conformity with HACCP standards
2-in-1 measuring device for food temperature scans
Whether you use the device as private individual or work in manufacturing, inspecting, transportation, trade or gastronomy, testing temperatures with the combined infrared insertion thermometer BP5F – for example, to monitor cold chains or cooking temperatures – can be accomplished quickly and reliably. Compact, robust and water-jet-proof as per protection type IP65, the user-friendly measuring device in high-class Trotec industrial design recommends itself for manifold measuring applications in accordance with the HACCP standard in the commercial and industrial sector, but it also appeals to ambitious amateur chefs who appreciate precision and professional quality.
Spot-on temperature measurements with the insertion thermometer
The handy 2-in-1 thermometer comes with a fold-out insertion needle made of food-safe stainless steel and an infrared sensor for non-destructive, non-contact surface temperature measurements. In order to determine the core temperature the temperature probe of 7.5 cm length can be inserted in the material to be measured. The current temperature value will be displayed in a few seconds. Ideally suited for meat, fish, dough or liquids. The stainless steel probe measures a temperature range between -40 °C and +200 °C. Solid or frozen material, however, must not be abused with the insertion needle. Instead the infrared sensor is suited for non-contact surface temperature measurements.
Non-contact surface temperature measurement via infrared
Within half a second the infrared sensor detects the surface temperature and indicates it in large digits on the backlit, clearly legible LC display. The temperature range starts at -40 °C also and extends even further up to +280 °C. Especially for high temperatures infrared measurements are often the safest option to prevent injuries. To ensure the compliance with hygiene regulations in the food production or with respect to sterile surfaces of the material to be measured in a laboratory environment we also recommend the non-contact and thus non-destructive infrared measurement method. The measuring object will neither be contaminated nor damaged by contact.
The infrared sensor is equipped with a 20:1 measuring optic for reliable measurements. For you to better judge the surface area covered by the temperature measurement, the BP5F projects a spot of red light on the measuring object. Please note: the further away the BP5F is from the object, the larger will the measuring spot diameter be. If there are different temperatures within the measuring spot, an average temperature will be determined. For a result that is straight to the point the measurement should be carried out when holding the infrared sensor as close as possible to the object.
Measurement with LED indicator in accordance with the HACCP standard
The internationally accepted HACCP standard (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) ensures food safety. According to the HACCP directives the relevant temperature ranges for food temperature measurements are below 4 °C and above 60 °C, complying with them is an important hygiene measure to prevent the development and reproduction of harmful microorganisms. Germs and bacteria can grow and thrive on food in the temperature range between. But below 4 °C and above 60 °C the formation of harmful germs or pathogenic agents in the food is ruled out.
The LED directly indicates a possible risk of germ formation
By means of an LED the BP5F directly indicates whether or not a critical temperature range has been reached. In addition to the display of the exact temperature value a lighting up red LED warns you that the measured value ranges between 4 °C and 60 °C. On the other hand, if both greens LEDs light up, you can be sure that the measured temperature is below 4 °C or above 60 °C and therefore HACCP-compliant.
With respect to food safety the BP5F meets the requirements of the German Food and Feed Code LFGB, §31, and of DIN 10955:2004. This ensures that no substances, odours or flavours are passed on to the food when using the product. Accordingly, you are always on the safe side using the BP5F.
Manifold applications for commercial or private use
The food IR thermometer BP5F can be used flexibly in various fields of application. For the fields of food production, processing and logistics the BP5F can offer precisely measured values for temperature control and monitoring. Whether you perform non-contact temperature measurements via infrared sensor or use the device as insertion thermometer – sample measurements can be carried out quickly and without difficulty to make sure that the desired temperature for the respective food is maintained. When transporting fresh fish, frozen foods, dairy products or other fresh foods the cold chain must not be interrupted. During the receipt of goods and their storage, the BP5F can be a reliable aid in controlling the stipulated food temperature values – ideal to be used e.g. in supermarkets, by wholesale dealers in the food service industry or catering businesses.
With the BP5F you can always keep an eye on the current temperature
The temperature of foodstuff processed in canteen kitchens, cafeterias, university dining halls or restaurants also needs to be constantly monitored. Is the meat well done? The vegetables on the side still warm? Or the soup much too hot? With the foldable and handy BP5F you can make sure that temperature-related hygiene regulations are being complied with and, moreover, that no guest is served lukewarm or scalding hot food.
Used for private purposes the BP5F serves as impressive pro tool in the kitchen or at the barbecue to amaze your guests. Sunday roast or BBQ: the perfect core temperature of meat can be determined with one prick of the needle. Temperature measurements are also a good idea when preparing cake or bread dough. Besides, due to the non-contact infrared measurement method you can avoid burning your fingers on too hot dishes, baking pans, stove plates or oven doors. Tip: Even when preparing baby food the BP5F can quickly ensure just the right temperature.
Impressive functional range and handling characteristics
The temperature values are indicated on the neatly arranged LC display in large digits. After the measurement the most recently measured value will be permanently indicated (HOLD function) for you to read and/or write it down unhurriedly. Moreover, the maximum value can be called up for infrared measurements. Using the integrated timer you can programme a countdown with alarm function enabling you to always carry out your measurements in the same time period. You can switch the temperature unit from degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit or vice versa. According to protection type IP65 the robust, washable and easy-to-clean device is also dust-proof and protected against water jets from any direction.
Compact, simple and convenient
The insertion thermometer's needle can folded inwards and fits into the handle permitting you to carry the BP5F along, say, in your jacket pocket. The needle is fully recessed and secured by means of a locking mechanism. The long-lasting 9 V battery included in the scope of delivery supplies the BP5F with the required power. The battery charge is indicated on the display. To ensure battery-saving operation the measuring device is automatically switched off after 20 seconds of non-use.
With a height of 18.5 cm and a weight of merely 180 g the BP5F qualifies as your professional companion for all food temperature measurements.
